How many lumens — and how many bulbs — your room needs.
How this worksWe multiply room square footage by the recommended lumens per square foot for that room type, using the midpoint of the range (kitchens and offices need more light for tasks; bedrooms less). Then we divide by 800 lumens — the output of a standard 60W-equivalent LED bulb — and round up to whole bulbs. Spread bulbs across multiple fixtures rather than one bright one for even light.
